FHP: Trooper, 3 others injured in vehicle crash
SEFFNER, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say a Florida Highway trooper and three other people are in serious condition after a crash on Interstate 4.
Authorities say Jack Duran, 45, of Orlando, apparently didn’t see a slow-moving construction crew ahead and smashed his Volvo truck into the group, causing a chain reaction early Monday.
Duran; trooper Maurice Hensley, 45, of Tampa; and construction workers William Pettet, 43, of Valrico, and Steven Cofield, 18, of Bradenton, were all hospitalized with serious injuries.
The westbound lanes of I-4 were closed for more than three hours.
