STUART, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say juveniles playing with fireworks started a fire that caused an estimated $80,000 in damage at a Stuart apartment complex.

A spokesman for the Stuart Fire-Rescue Department said Monday that two juveniles were seen playing with fireworks where the fire began. Officials say the two have not been arrested but will be in a program for juveniles who set fires.

Authorities say the fire began on the Fourth of July at the base of a column of the building, spreading upward and to the front. The fire was contained in the attic of the two-story building, but eight units were damaged either by smoke or water used to combat the blaze.
