Gov. candidates talk of flying
TALLAHASSEE (AP) – Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, a Democrat running for governor, is applauding a state agency for taking her suggestion and posting state plane travel logs on the Web.
The initial entry for April shows Sink flew once – a one-way trip to Tampa, her hometown – while Attorney General Bill McCollum, a Republican running for governor, made five round trips from Tallahassee to various state destinations.
Sink sent out a news release Thursday saying the site furthers her goal of government transparency.
Less than three hours later, McCollum issued a statement saying state planes should not be used as “a taxpayer-funded method of personal commuting” with a notation that he’s never flown them between home and work.
