Grand pool reopens after its restoration
CORAL GABLES (AP) – One of the country’s grandest public pools has reopened in South Florida.
The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables had been closed for a six-month, $730,000 restoration.
Workers have upgraded bathrooms to make them accessible to the disabled; and repaired walkways, fountains, roof tiles, wrought-iron gate and cobblestone plazas; among other improvements.
About 80,000 people visit the pool each year. It earned historic landmark designation 20 years ago.
