Historic Tampa church holds final service
TAMPA (AP) – A historic Tampa congregation has held its last service.
The 109-year-old First Christian Church gathered for its final service Sunday. The congregation is selling its building to a new church.
The red-brick English Gothic landmark will reopen as Holy Trinity Presbyterian later this month. Holy Trinity will pay $2.75 million over five years for its new home.
First Christian will give the bulk of that money to a foundation to fund local charities. The balance will go to forming a new church for remaining members.
