TAMPA (AP) – Authorities say four Florida teenagers charged with sexually assaulting a member of their flag football team with a broomstick and a hockey stick spent just a single night in juvenile detention after their arrest.

The St. Petersburg Times reports that Hillsborough Circuit Judge Christopher Sabella released the teens a day after they were arrested for the alleged April 30 assault at Walker Middle School in Odessa.

The teenagers, who face charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment, are required to wear electronic monitoring bracelets.

The group is accused of assaulting a 13-year-old boy, who investigators say had picked on continually since March. Two allegedly held down the boy while two assaulted him.
