Fla. deputy fatally strikes woman in wheelchair with vehicle

SOUTH PASADENA (AP) – Tampa Bay area authorities are investigating the death of an elderly woman whose motorized wheelchair was struck by a deputy’s unmarked vehicle.

According the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, 78-year-old Mary Henesy was crossing a South Pasadena street in her wheelchair when she was struck by a deputy heading home from duty.

Henesy died Wednesday evening at a hospital, hours after being struck.
