Ex-employee of state is sentenced for porn

MIAMI (AP) – A former state employee has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for possessing child pornography.

Before he pleaded guilty to the charge in December, John Esposito was an investigator for the Office of Financial Regulation and the Department of Children and Families’ Office of Inspector General.

Federal prosecutors say Esposito ordered and purchased two videos of a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct from a Web site based in Europe. More images and videos were found on his computer.

Esposito was sentenced Tuesday to 78 months in prison.

DCF says Esposito didn’t work with children during his short employment with the agency in 2007.

Esposito’s federal public defender declined comment Wednesday.

Holly Hinson, a spokeswoman with the Office of Financial Regulation, said Esposito was employed there for less than nine months, from Nov. 26, 2007 to Aug. 1, 2008. His termination was related to his arrest, she said.
