State could track prescription drugs
TALLAHASSEE (AP) – The state of Florida could soon begin tracking prescription drugs handed out by pharmacies and clinics as part of a crackdown on “doctor shopping.”
A House committee on Wednesday approved a bill (HB 897) that requires the state to spend $4 million to create a prescription drug database. Pharmacies would be required to tell the state within 15 days who got drugs and what kind of drugs they received.
