Fire destroys historic home
SOUTHWEST RANCHES (AP) – A historic home that was supposed to be part of a park for children went up in flames and authorities are calling the blaze suspicious.
The fire happened Sunday morning in the western Broward County community. No one was injured.
The empty home was one of two unoccupied, historic structures that had been moved to the property three years ago to create a historic park for children. One of the homes was demolished, the other sustained minor damage.
State fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. They said it is suspicious because neither of the structures has electricity or running water.
