ORLANDO (AP) – Authorities say a 12-year-old and a 17-year-old who are accused of starting central Florida brush fires have been arrested.

The two fires weren’t related. The first fire burned a quarter-acre of land. The second covered three acres.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said the 12-year-old boy used a lighter to start a Feb. 8 fire in Apopka. Investigators believe the 17-year-old also used a lighter to start a Sanford fire on Feb. 16.
