Tree service worker killed dumping mulch
GAINESVILLE (AP) – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office says a man delivering mulch died after part of his tree service truck hit a power line.
Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Maynard said the man tried to pull his truck forward as he dumped mulch at a home on Saturday morning. The man pulled the vehicle forward and the boom of his truck hit the electrical lines.
The man’s name wasn’t immediately released. He worked for a Gainesville tree service.
Maynard said investigators aren’t sure if the man died from electrocution or from a fire that started in the cab of the truck once the power lines touched the vehicle.
