Motorized gorilla found after stolen from store

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Authorities have found a robotic gorilla dressed in Arizona Cardinals garb that was taken from a Tampa vacuum store.

David Epstein, the store’s owner, said Thursday that he has met the two girls who took it – both freshmen at the University of Tampa – and will not press charges. He says everyone has done something stupid when they were 18 years old.

Surveillance video caught the girls dragging the fake gorilla away from Epstein’s business Wednesday. The gorilla, which is programmed to wave at passers-by, is valued at $1,200.

Another motorized gorilla, which is wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers shirt, is still outside the vacuum store. Epstein plans to have the Cardinals gorilla back outside by Friday.

The Steelers and the Cardinals will meet in the Super Bowl on Sunday in Tampa.
