NAPLES (AP) – Authorities believe a South Florida woman stole a purse from a patient at a Naples hospital and used the patient’s credit card to charge a cab ride to Miami.

Alexandra Beth Regal, 32, is faces charges of illegal use of credit cards, attempting to use the identification of another person without consent and grand theft. She turned herself in to authorities Monday.

Naples police said the patient realized her purse was missing two days after she was admitted into the hospital. Authorities then learned that the patient’s American Express card had been used to pay for a $270 cab ride from Naples to Miami.

Authorities are investigating the incident to see if Regal had any help from a hospital employee.
