First Fla. commercial ethanol plant named
TAMPA (AP) – A Massachusetts biofuel company is teaming up with a Florida business to build the state’s first commercial-scale ethanol plant, and says it should be up and running by 2011. Verenium and Tampa-based Lykes Bros. Inc. announced Thursday plans to build a commercial facility that will produce up to 36 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol a year and create 140 full-time jobs. Cellulosic ethanol is produced from natural, plant waste products.
