$2.3M bailout denied
TAMPA (AP) – The Hillsborough County Commission has rejected a request from the outgoing supervisor of elections for $2.3 million to cover unanticipated expenses from the November election.
Buddy Johnson, who lost his re-election bid last month, said the transition from touch-screen voting machines to optical scan machines caused the overruns.
Johnson did not attend the commission meeting Wednesday. The commissioners voted unanimously to have a financial team review Johnson’s records.
