2-year-old girl shot in hand
DANIA BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities are investigating how a 2-year-old girl was shot in the hand at her Dania Beach home.
Broward deputies responded to a reported shooting Saturday morning and found that a 5-year-old boy had shot his sister. Deputies believe the boy found his father’s gun and was holding it when it went off. Authorities believe the shooting was accidental.
The girl was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
The sheriff’s office reports that the girl’s father, 23-year-old Dominick Scotto, was home at the time of the shooting. Detectives are investigating, and the case will be forwarded to the state attorney’s office for review.
