Deputy dead in Florida Keys crash
KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) _ A Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy is dead after his car collided with a semi-tractor trailer truck in the Florida Keys.
The officer was identified as 38-year-old Nick Pham, a traffic enforcement officer for more than four years. Pham’s car collided with the trailer shortly after noon Wednesday. The officer was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said he had been on patrol when the accident happened.
The Florida Highway Patrol, which is investigating the accident, did not immediately return a phone call seeking additional details.
Pham leaves behind a wife and several children.
