Fire kills elderly couple in northwest Florida
ALLENTOWN, Fla. (AP) _ Fire officials are investigating a blaze that killed an elderly couple in northwest Florida.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says a passing motorist alerted authorities to the fire around 9 p.m. Sunday. Eighty-one-year-old Ingram Lamar Ward was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 72-year-old Dorothy Verburg Ward, died later at a hospital. The couple had been married for 52 years.
It’s unclear what started the fire.
