School district to celebrate grand opening of G. Weaver Hipps Elementary Early Learning Center

G. Weaver Hipps Early Learning Center’s grand opening will officially be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 5. Principal Dr. Deborah Nauss, Superintendent Dr. Ken Savage and the School Board of Lee County will mark the occasion with a ribbon cutting. G. Weaver Hipps Elementary School is at 1200 Homestead Road South in Lehigh Acres.
The G. Weaver Hipps Early Learning Center provides 18 classrooms for as many as 225 4-year-old students to start their education. Childcare of Southwest Florida will use two more rooms for a high-quality learning experience for children from birth to 5 years old.
“The early learning center is an exciting opportunity for young children growing up in Lehigh Acres to prepare for and enter elementary school,” said Principal Dr. Deborah Nauss. “The children of our teachers, support staff, and greater school community can join the G. Weaver Hipps family shortly after birth and be cared for, supported and educated through fifth grade. We look forward to offering such an invaluable experience.”
The Early Learning Center is part of a commitment by the school district to expand pre-K options in Lee County and improve kindergarten readiness in new students. Construction of the $18.5 million facility is supported by the half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2018.
The ribbon cutting is an invitation-only event.
