American Legion Post 90 members were the special guests at the Nov. 3 meeting of the Cape Coral New Residents Club.

The NRC of Cape Coral welcomes hundreds of new residents at its monthly meetings, and many of these new residents are veterans as well as spouses and family members of veterans. As they have done in the past, Post 90 teams up with the New Residents Club to make sure that these vets and their families know that Post 90 provides a valuable community resource for veteran needs, and a great opportunity to become a part of the social fabric of Cape Coral.

Ted Clark, a member of the Post 90 Executive Committee, addressed the group on behalf of the Legion; the Legion Auxiliary, which is for spouses; and the Sons of the American Legion, for family members. Each organization is involved in Cape Coral community support activities and social events.

Clark pointed out that the synergy between the NRC and the American Legion really provides a great kickstart to those new to Florida and to the Cape Coral community. New residents are curious about what Cape Coral has to offer and are anxious to meet others who are calling this their new home.

Clark paid special thanks to new NRC President Skylar Burgess and outgoing President Dorothy Binder for providing the opportunity to talk about the American Legion and Post 90.

At the conclusion of the meeting NRC members were able to get additional information on the Legion or find out how to transfer their membership from their old Post to Post 90.

The Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion administer dozens of volunteer programs, giving hundreds of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises thousands of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities in Cape Coral.

Post 90 is located at 1401 S.E. 47th St., in Cape Coral. More information is available at www.post90swf.org, or you can contact them at alpost90cape@yahoo.com, or call the post at 239-540-8128. Or just stop by and say hello.
