The Players Circle Theater seeks volunteers; new season opens Nov. 1


Popular local comedian R.C. Smith returns to the Players Circle Theater as one of three actors in the theater’s season’s opening show, Murder at the Howard Johnson’s. This is a Marx Brothers/Three Stooges funny suspense comedy about a love triangle. A dentist, his lover and her husband all try to kill each other at the Howard Johnson’s.

The Players Circle Theater will hold a special meet-and-greet for volunteers on Saturday, Oct. 22.
“There’s a volunteer job for everyone,” a release from the theater states. “And everyone needs to find his/her niche.”
North Fort Myers’ newest professional theater, is located at The Shell Factory, 16554 North Cleveland Ave.
“Volunteers can choose how they want to participate from a long list of ways to interact with the theater,” the release states. “The theater is looking for dedicated people to assist patrons as ushers and customer service; other volunteers are needed to assist with behind-the-scenes activities, helping with VIP events, assisting with mailings, office duties, and fund-raising activities. Volunteers get to see the shows free!”
Days and hours can be flexible. Interested individuals are invited to attend the special “Meet and Greet” informational and orientation session on Oct. 22, in the lobby of the theater between 10 a.m. and noon.

The Players Circle Performing Arts Center was developed by veterans of the Southwest Florida theater movement, Carrie Lund Cacioppo and Robert Cacioppo. They have been prominent faces of theater in Lee County for more than 35 years, having started Lee County’s first professional theater on Sanibel Island and the Florida Repertory Theatre, which has been named “One of America’s best regional theatres” by The Wall Street Journal. Smith is known as the best warm-up guy in the business, he’s been featured on the Jimmy Fallon Show and many of the top comedy clubs in the country. He’s a top-notch comedian with a rapid-fire, feel-good wit. He performs at the Players Circle Theater to sold-out crowds. “Murder at the Howard Johnson’s” will run through Nov 20.
