3 min read

Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. has announced the release of the “Leave The Scene Clean” Reusable Tote Bags! There are four tote bag designs available that each feature a full-color winning illustration from our 2022 student art contest.

The four overall winning students were:

• Grade K-3rd Winner: Blaire Metevia from St. Francis Xavier

• Grade 4th-6th Winner: Julia Humble from North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts

• Grade 7th-9th Winner: Aaliyah Tourgee from Estero High School

• Grade 10th-12 Winner: Jamison Albertorio-Acevedo from Cypress Lake High School

Keep Lee County Beautiful has been holding their “Leave The Scene Clean” art contest for over 30 years. The art contest challenges the students to visualize a correct environmental action and transfer that mental picture into a work of art. The artwork has the power to make you think deeper around you which is often the first step towards a person realizing they can make a difference to protect the world we live in.

“We are excited to showcase the winning artwork on reusable tote bags which align with our mission of waste education and reduction,” said Trish Fancher, Executive Director of KLCB. “We donate the tote bags to the schools to be used as a fundraising tool for environmental projects. Schools keep 100% of the money raised to support their projects. The bags are also available to the public for a small donation and will be distributed across the county at KLCB events and through community partners.”

The “Leave the Scene Clean” project is made possible through corporate sponsorships. Sponsors for the 2022 art contest include Lee County Solid Waste, Covanta Energy, WM, Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Greenfield Marketing & Media, LCEC and Waste Pro.
