August programs set at Northwest Regional Library

Next month’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

Knit and Stitch

10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3

A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

English Café

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Books & Bagels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Bagels and coffee will be served.

Artsy Adult Craft: Book Folding

1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20

Do you find dog-earring book pages horrifying? If so, this project may offend you. We will use books that are in good shape, but no one seems to be reading, to create something fun. Instead of sending the book to a bin, we’ll be dog-earring nearly every single page. Registration is required.

Tea Time Talks

6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Tea and cookies will be served.

Children’s Programs

Tuesday Edition: Artsy Tech

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2

Create fun works of art using technology. All supplies provided. For ages 5-11. Registration begins July 6 and is guaranteed only until the start of the program.

Kids Read Down Fines

4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 3, 10

11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 20

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Kindness Club

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9

Join us at the library to create kindness in our community. Kids can participate in fun activities designed to encourage kindness and help make the world a better place. For ages 5-11. Registration began July 12 and is guaranteed only until the start of the program.

Pre-K Builders

10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11

Practice your STEAM skills with a playdate at the library. All supplies provided. For ages 2-5.

Birthday Club

10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13

Is it your child’s birthday month? Come celebrate it with us at our monthly birthday bash. All supplies and light refreshments provided. For ages 1-5. Registration for birthday child required.

Baby Play Time

10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15

For babies up to 18 months and caregivers. Meet new friends at Baby Playtime. Children and families are welcome to explore and develop early literacy skills through free play, games and toys.

Saturday Storytime

10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 20

For children through age 5 and caregivers. Join us for this fun and engaging storytime that promotes and reinforces early literacy skills and language development through stories, music, movement and activities.

LEGO Club

2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27

Join us for a short story and Lego building activities. Lego pieces provided for use during this program.

Books and Blankets

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30

Join us with your blankies and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

Teen Programs

Therapy Dogs

3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17

Teens, join us at the library to relax with therapy dogs. For grades 6-12. No registration required.
