Programs, activities set for Northwest Regional Library in Cape

July’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULT PROGRAMS

Knit and Stitch

10 a.m., Wednesday, July 6

A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

Random Acts of Art for Adults

10 a.m., Thursday, July 7

This art class for adults will be popping up on the calendar at random. You may arrive to discover an old favorite project or learn that you will be trying out something new. The project will not be announced until you arrive and seating will be limited to supplies on hand. Registration is required.

Books & Bagels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 13

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Bagels and coffee will be served.

English Café

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, July 14, 21, 28

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Artsy Adult Craft: Paper Marbling

1 p.m., Saturday, July 16

Marbleized paper has been crafted for nearly 10 centuries. In this session you will learn the basics of this ancient art. Registration is required.

Tea Time Talks

6 p.m., Tuesday, July 26

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Tea and cookies will be served.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

Interactive Movie

10 a.m., Saturday, July 2

More than just a movie showing, take part in the action with props, sound effects and a whole lot of fun. Families of all ages are welcome. Rated PG.

Kids Read Down Fines

4:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesdays, July 6, 13

11 a.m. – Noon, Saturday, July 16

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Birthday Club

10 a.m., Saturday, July 9

Is it your child’s birthday month? Come celebrate it with us at our monthly birthday bash. All supplies and light refreshments provided. For ages 1 – 5. Registration for birthday child required.

Babies and Books

10:30 a.m., Mondays, July 11, 18, 25

For babies through 18 months and caregivers. Bond with your baby and meet new friends during this special storytime with books, songs, rhymes and more.

Ocean Full of Art

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 12

Join us for a splash of art and some calming vibes inspired by the water. Various stations of different art styles and activities will be available. For ages 6-11. Registration begins June 29.

Summer Community Storytime

11 a.m., Thursdays, July 14, 21, 28

Join us for our weekly family event where we will share stories, rhymes and activities all about our community. For children through age 5.

Pre-K Fun: Letters, Colors and Shapes

10 a.m., Saturday, July 16

Join us for activities, crafts and fun made just for preschoolers. Dress for mess. For ages 2-5 years.

All Things Sharks

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 19

Join us at the library as we dive into the ‘fin-tastic’ world of sharks. Be ready for trivia, games and crafts all about the ocean’s most jaw-some creatures. For ages 6-11. Registration begins July 12.

Lego Club

2 p.m., Saturday, July 23

Join us for a short story and Lego building activities. Lego pieces provided for use during this program.

Oceanography Down Under

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 26

Join us for a high-energy, Australia-themed show that combines music, culture, puppetry, comedy, character building, storytelling and audience participation. For ages 6-11. Registration begins July 19.

Join us in the Teen Zone and bring a bit of the beach home with you. Create a colorful and unique sand art craft.

Afternoon Movie

Pull up a chair in the Teen Zone, relax and enjoy a snack and movie.

Acrylic Pour

2 p.m., Wednesday, July 27

Let It Flow. Create an abstract masterpiece using a tile or old CD as your canvas. There are endless creative possibilities thanks to the unique art of acrylic pour painting.
