Sun Splash to offer Mother’s Day special

By CJ - | May 5, 2022

With temps rising and the weather getting quite warm in Southwest Florida, Sun Splash Family Waterpark is the perfect cool spot for a day of fun, and this weekend, you can treat mom.

The region’s largest water park in its first year under privatized management is once again offering free admission for mothers and grandmothers in honor of Mother’s Day this Saturday and Sunday with the purchase of a regular priced child or teen general admission ticket. These tickets must be purchased at the ticket booth to make good on the offer.

“Sun Splash Family Waterpark is all about families and fun, so we are pleased to offer this Mother’s Day Weekend special,” said Eric Reed, water park general manager, in a release.

Sun Splash is currently open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May 27.

The park will go to daily summer hours on May 28 with new extended hours of operation through Aug. 8. Sunday through Thursday the park will be open 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and holidays. In addition to new hours, Sun Splash has introduced other new enhancements including free parking, more cabanas, new food and drink items, an activities director, and new season pass member benefits including early entry, discounts on food and cabanas, plus one bring-a-friend-free ticket valid for a one-time visit this season.

“It’s a great way for families to thank moms and spend quality time together,” Reed added.

The park features 14 acres of attractions, including “Pirates Cove” for youth and adults alike.

Sun Splash has lots to offer not just kids, but the whole family. You can relax along the Main Stream River Tube Ride as is gently navigates you through the park. For the more adventurous, Thunder Bump, Terror Tube and the X-celerator drop guests down a five-story incline, perfect for the adrenaline rush you’re looking for. There’s also “Cape Fear,” a 30-foot-high platform that sends the brave through a darkened tunnel more than 200 feet. Flumes, tunnels and slides all find a home at Sun Splash, varying in size and ferocity. Grab a summertime snack or adult beverage at the Calypso Cafe or simply soak up the sun in a lounge chair poolside.

The park is now under the direction of Pro Parks Management Company, a privately held attractions company that acquires, develops, and manages water parks, family entertainment centers, and other similar attractions assets. The company is led by a team of experienced attractions and water park professionals that are focused on growth at existing parks and targeted acquisitions, officials said.

The city of Cape Coral still owns the park.

Sun Splash is at 400 Santa Barbara Blvd. For more information about Sun Splash, the season operating schedule, admission rates and directions to the park, call 239-574-0558 or visit www.SunSplashWaterpark.com.
