Northwest Regional Library announces April programs, events

April’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

Knit and Stitch

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 6

A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

English Café

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21, 28

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Random Acts of Art for Adults

10 a.m., Friday, April 8

This art class for adults will be popping up on the calendar at random. You may arrive to discover an old favorite project or learn that you will be trying out something new. The project will not be announced until you arrive and seating will be limited to supplies on hand. Registration is required.

Books & Bagels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 13

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Bagels and coffee will be served.

Artsy Adult Craft: Bracelet of Intent

1 p.m., Saturday, April 16

An intention is a chosen theme that allows you to create alignment in your life. Find your word, hammer it into a metal disc, then string the disc into a bracelet or necklace. Registration is required.

New Movie Matinee

1 p.m., Wednesday, April 20

Join us for a showing of a newly-released DVD each month. Movie ratings will vary and this program is intended for adult audiences. Snacks provided.

Tea Time Talks

6 p.m., Tuesday, April 26

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Tea and cookies will be served.

Children’s Programs

Interactive Movie

10 a.m., Saturday, April 2

More than just a movie showing, audiences participate in this screening. You can take part in the action with props, sound effects and a whole lot of fun or just sit back and enjoy the film. Families of all ages are welcome. Rated PG.

Baby Rhyme Time

10:30 a.m., Mondays, April 4, 11, 18, 25

For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers wiggle and giggle in a supportive environment. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Tuesday Edition: Art Market

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 5

Put your “money” where your art is. Practice your money literacy skills by purchasing art supplies with pretend money. Then, create an art project from the supplies purchased. All supplies provided. For ages 5-11. Registration begins March 8.

Toddler Tales

10:45 a.m., Wednesdays, April 6, 13, 20, 27

For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Kids Read Down Fines

4:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesdays, April 6, 13

11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 16

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Preschool Storytime

10:45 a.m., Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21, 28

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Birthday Club

10 a.m., Saturday, April 9

Is it your child’s birthday month? Celebrate with us at our monthly birthday bash. All supplies and light refreshments provided. For ages 1-5. Registration for the birthday child is required.

Kindness Club

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 12

Join us at the library to create kindness in our community. Kids can participate in fun activities designed to encourage kindness and help make the world a better place. For ages 5-11. Registration begins March 8.

Family Storytime

10 a.m., Saturday, April 16

For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Lego Club

2 p.m., Saturday, April 23

Join us for a short story and Lego building activities. Lego pieces provided for use during this program.

Books and Blankets

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 26

Join us with your blankies and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

Teen Programs

COAL

4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14

Teens, do you need service hours? Northwest Regional Library has a solution. COAL (Compassion, Openness, Acceptance and Learning) is a program available for teens discussing relevant topics, introducing presenters and connecting with the community. Light snacks provided. For teens in grades 6-12.

Fun Acrylic Paint

Tuesday, April 19

2:30 p.m. – Grades 9-12

4:15 p.m. – Grades 6 – 8

Let’s get messy. Come try a different way to paint using acrylic paints.
