Northwest Regional Library programs set for November

Next month’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

Knit and Stitch

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3

A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

English Café

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, Nov. 4, 18

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Books & Bagels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10

Join us and share your latest reading recommendations for must-read books or for books to skip. Bagels and coffee will be served.

Korean Medical Meditation

1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18

Local acupuncturists Dr. Evan Mahoney and Young Ok Mahoney will present a program on traditional Korean medicine. Topics include important historical figures in the development of acupuncture, a brief history of the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 and the enduring medical traditions from this time, the use of meditation for conditions such as PTSD and the mind-body connection espoused by Dr. John Sarno.

Artsy Adult Craft: Shrinky Dinks

1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20

Join us for an afternoon of creative fun. Select patterns to color with markers and then cut out the image and shrink it using a heat gun. These make wonderful pendants, ornaments and gift tags. Registration is required.

Tea Time Talks

6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30

Join us and share your latest reading recommendations for must-read books or for books to skip. Tea and cookies will be served.

Children’s Programs

Baby Rhyme Time

10:30 a.m., Mondays, Nov. 1, 8, 15, 29

10:15 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 13

For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers wiggle and giggle in a supportive environment. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Tuesday Edition: Cardboard Creations

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2

What can you make from a cardboard box? Use special screws and tools to assist in making whatever you are inspired to create. All supplies provided. For ages 5-11. Registrations begins Oct. 12.

Toddler Tales

10:30 & 11:15 a.m.,

Wednesdays, Nov. 3, 10, 17

For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Kids Read Down Fines

4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Nov. 3, 10

11 a.m. – noon, Saturday, Nov. 20

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Preschool Storytime

10:45 a.m., Thursdays, Nov. 4, 18

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Adventure in Kindness

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9

All aboard the kindness train! Craft kindness at our activity stations. Kindness is a journey as much as a destination. All supplies provided. For ages 5-11. Registration begins Oct. 13.

Books and Blankets

6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30

Join us with your blankies and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.
