Northwest Regional Library sets programs for October

Next month’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

English Café

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Books & Bagels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13

Join us and share your latest reading recommendations for must-read books or for books to skip. Bagels and coffee will be served.

Artsy Adult Craft: Pour Painting

1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23

Satisfy your need for creativity with acrylic pour painting. Participants will be mixing acrylic paints and pouring onto canvas for spectacular and engaging effects. All supplies are provided. Registration is required.

Tea Time Talks

6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26

Join us and share your latest reading recommendations for must-read books or for books to skip. Tea and cookies will be served.

Children’s Programs

Tuesday Edition: Bad Art

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5

Make it new. Make it horrible. Art doesn’t have to be perfect; it can be a monstrous masterpiece. The sky is the limit as long as it is bad. All supplies provided. For ages 5-11. Registration is required.

Kids Read Down Fines

4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Oct. 6, 13

11 a.m. – noon, Saturday, Oct. 16

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Pre-K Pretend and Play

10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7

Join us at the library for a special day of make believe. You could be a farmer, a baker or even a librarian at stations designed to encourage imagination and creativity. For ages 2-5. Registration is required.

Baby Rhyme Time

10:15 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9

10:30 a.m., Mondays, Oct. 18, 25

For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers wiggle and giggle in a supportive environment. Space is limited. First-come, first-served.

Legotastic

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12

Join us for a night of Lego building and let your imagination soar. All materials provided. For ages 5-11. Registration is required.

Toddler Tales

10:30 & 11:15 a.m.,

Wednesdays, Oct. 20, 27

For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime. Space is limited. First-come, first-served.

Preschool Storytime

10:45 a.m., Thursdays, Oct. 21, 28

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited. First-come, first-served.

Family Storytime

10:15 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23

For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement. Space is limited. First-come, first-served.

Books and Blankets

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26

Join us with your blankets and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

Drop-In Halloween Fun

10:30 a.m. – noon, Saturday, Oct. 30

Drop by the library for come-and-go spooktacular games and crafts.

Quest Adventure in Virtual Reality

2:30 p.m., Mondays, Oct. 4, 11

2:30 p.m., Tuesdays, Oct. 5, 12

2:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Oct. 6, 13

2:30 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 7, 14

2:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8

Leave the 2D world and immerse yourself in a 3D, 180-degree VR experience. Drop in and check out our Oculus Quest headsets. For ages 12-18.

Spooktacular Book Buffet

Take a bite out of some of our books at the book buffet. Check out what we’ve conjured up for the menu. Light snacks provided. For ages 12-18.
