Dress for Success SW Florida’s ‘A REcycled Night Through the Decades’ set for Aug. 27

By Staff | Aug 19, 2021

Dress for Success SW Florida has announced its signature fundraiser, “A REcycled Night Through the Decades,” will be held Friday, Aug. 27, from 6-10 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs.

“A REcycled Night Through the Decades” is a one-of-a-kind experience where 17 local designers showcase runway-ready ensembles crafted from bags of recycled clothing and accessories generously donated to Dress for Success SW Florida, which are deemed not appropriate for the workplace.

The gala will feature hors d’oeuvres, champagne, a three-course dinner, silent and live auctions, a buy-it-now table of couture shoes, a cork pull featuring the finest wine and spirits, DJ and live fashion show hosted by Alyssa Lemay, Southwest Florida’s popular female impersonator and fashion designer.

A panel of judges will select first, second and third place winners with the top designer taking home $650. Seventeen designers are competing for cash prizes. Returning first place winner, Sedona Scott, is hoping to secure another win with her design from the 1970s.

Money raised from this annual event will help support programs that are offered free to women in Lee, Collier and Hendry counties, Women Empowered Through Employment Series for unemployed and underemployed women, Professional Women’s Group for employed women and Entrepreneurial Spirit Program for women pursuing their own business.

This event is sponsored by Stevens Construction, Home-Tech, Edison National Bank, Garramone Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Fifth Third Bank, Wayne Wiles Flooring, Waste Pro, FineMark National Bank and Trust, Dream Fit LLC, R.D. Johnson Construction Inc., The Elizabeth K Galeana Foundation, MidWestOne Bank and Card Systems. Sponsorships are still available.
