By Staff | Feb 14, 2020

The Feeding Southwest Florida food drive held Saturday by Harry Chapin Food Bank and Publix Super Markets collected 92,647 pounds of food and $23,448 in donations to help feed people facing hunger in Southwest Florida.

The food drive was a partnership between the food bank and 62 Publix stores across Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties.

Harry Chapen officials said they are grateful to Publix for making this food drive possible and for its continuing partnership in the food bank’s mission to lead the community in the fight to end hunger.

The food and monetary donations collected will support Harry Chapin Food Bank programs that help feed the 1 in 8 people in Southwest Florida, including 1 in 5 children, who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

Publix customers showed their support by purchasing nonperishable food items to donate to the food bank while going about their weekly food shopping to feed themselves or their families.
