Volunteer Fair at Lakes Regional Library Saturday

2 min read

United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee is sponsoring a Volunteer Fair this Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Lakes Regional Library, 15290 Bass Road, in Fort Myers.

The United Way Volunteer Center invites the public to learn how to enrich your life through helping others.

Join United Way officials as they promote year-round volunteer opportunities in Lee County, and afford the public a chance to interact face-to-face with a variety of local agencies and explore opportunities that fit their interests.

Nineteen local agencies will have tables at the Volunteer Fair so visitors can explore what type of activity each agency has to offer to volunteers. Residents can enrich their life by offering thier skills and experience to a local non-profit agency, and choose the one that is the perfect fit. This is a great opportunity for students who are required to do public service hours for school, retired persons to expand their horizons, and families to find volunteer projects to do together.

There is no charge for the event. A few examples of potential volunteer positions or projects include the following: Food prep, serving meals, food pantries, special events, tutoring/mentoring, administrative office assistance, animal socialization, pet therapy, elder support and much more.
