Ho! Ho! Ho! The Christmas Show
The Players Circle Theatre will kick off a new era in the arts throughout Lee County on Tuesday, Dec. 3, when it kicks off its inaugural 2019-20 season with a holiday show that promises to have attendees singing and laughing.
“Ho! Ho! Ho! The Christmas Show” will begin its run at the new theater at The Shell Factory that night with the first of three previews before starting in earnest on Friday, Dec. 6, and running until Dec. 22.
The show was conceived and written by Robert Cacioppo, artistic director at the theater, and will feature classic Christmas songs audience members can sing along to, provided you aren’t still laughing.
“We’re trying to get as many laughs and comedy into the show. For many, Christmas is a bluesy time and we want to make people laugh and have a great time,” Cacioppo said. “The cast is amazingly talented and the show is modeled after the old-time Christmas shows.
Cacioppo said he got the inspiration from watching those classic Christmas specials on TV as a kid from the likes of Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and Bob Hope and would watch those hilarious sketches they would put on.
Among the classics are “White Christmas,” “The 12 Days of Christmas,” “It’s Cold Outside,” “Santa Baby” and the hilarious “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.”
This will be the first of five productions during this first season at the theater, which will run through May. More shows can be expected in the coming years at the Players Circle Theatre.
Tickets are $50. This show is not part of the subscriber series. It is $35 for subscribers. There will also be numerous discounts and specials for subscribers of up to 50 percent of regular ticket prices.
