Cape Coral First United Methodist Church to conduct Operation Love Your Neighbor

This Saturday, March 9, Cape Coral First United Methodist Church will be hosting OLYN (Operation Love Your Neighbor). This program started in 2008. On this day this year, over 200 volunteers will spread out in small groups attending to the needs of the community. Adults and children will be visiting senior citizen retirement facilities, Cape Coral fire stations, the Coast Guard office as well as cleaning up roadsides and parks.

Some groups will be collecting food for needing families. Free blood pressure checks will be provided in a booth at the Cape Coral Club Square Farmers Market. Some will be working on a Habitat for Humanity home. Others will be organizing clothes at the Clothes Closet while yet others are knitting and crocheting projects to be given away.

The event begins with a send-off breakfast for the volunteers at the church, at 4118 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral, at 8:30 a.m., Saturday.

Classic Car Show at First Congregational Church

On Saturday, March 16, the First Congregational Church at 312 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral will hold its 8th Annual Classic Car Show, which promises to be a super day of fun for the family, according to church officials. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch for sale. The show will feature at least 60 classic cars, with trophies, door prizes and 50/50.

Faith Presbyterian Church to host ‘Healthy Living for the Brain and Body’ program March 13

Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, disease stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available to address some symptoms and resources at the “Healthy Living for the Brain and Body” program at Faith Presbyterian Church, 4544 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral.

The program, which is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, will be held Wednesday, March 13, from 10-11 a.m.

‘How to taste wine like a pro’ program March 26 at Temple Beth Shalom

Noted wine expert and author Jerry Greenfield, “The Wine Whisperer,” is returning to Temple Beth Shalom, March 26, from 7-8:45 p.m., to educate and entertain.

“Enjoying wine means you like it,” Greenfield said. “But appreciating wine means knowing WHY you like it.”

At the event, Greenfield will teach the techniques that wine professionals use to understand and enjoy the wines they sample. Participants will sample four of the world’s favorite wine varieties and pair them with cured meat, dried fruit and cheese. So not only will participants learn about wine, they’ll also learn what kinds of foods enhance and complement the wines.

Women’s retreat ‘Be Still and Know’ set for March 23 at CCFUM

The 11th annual women’s retreat entitled “Be Still and Know” will be held Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Blvd., in Cape Coral.

Women of all ages, faiths and levels in their spiritual journey are invited to this one-day event, and welcomed to hear inspirational speakers and their stories of redemption and recovery through their personal faith. Music will provide an important worship element. The day will include small group discussions, listening and sharing with others, continental breakfast, lunch, gift bags and retreat materials for the registration fee of $20 per person. Free child care will be provided.

This event is hosted by the United Methodist Women of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, the proceeds of which will benefit their work in missions.
