The Cape Coral Civic Association will host a clean water awareness meeting at the Cape Coral Yacht Club on April 17.

The meeting, which will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., will feature guest speaker John G. Heim of the South Florida Clean Water Movement.

With more than 400 miles of canals – half of which feed out to the Caloosahatchee River – the city of Cape Coral recognizes the importance of having clean waters, organizers said.

Mayor Joe Coviello will present Civic with a proclamation stating April 17 will be known as Clean Water Awareness Day.

The meeting is open to the public. The Yacht Club is at 5819 Driftwood Parkway.
