Garden Club of Cape Coral, Potpourri Designers to host ‘Spring Spectacular’ flower show April 29-30
A juried Standard Flower Show, “Spring Spectacular,” will be presented by the Garden Club of Cape Coral and The Potpourri Designers Friday, April 29, from 3-5 p.m., and Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The show will be held at the Cape Coral Lee County Public Library, 921 S.W. 39th Terrace, off Mohawk Parkway, in Cape Coral.
The public is invited to see how the designers meet the challenge and interpret through flowers the six classes in the Design Division-Spring Forward – Fall Back; Alternative Uses of Springs – an Assemblage including a “spring;” Spring Green – line design Novice; Spring-time Brunch – Functional Table; Springtime Beginnings Petite; Spring Break – Mass Design Novice.
This year the Garden Club lost a founding member, Marty Ward, a Master Gardener and major influence in the local, county and state floral communities. Invitational designs will be done by Carole Lachmann and Terry Pinck, one in honor of Ward, a friend and mentor.
The show will be judged by a panel of National Garden Club Inc. accredited / approved judges according to the NGC Standard System.
Come peruse the submissions in the Horticulture Division that includes everything from cut specimens from the garden or landscaping to potted plants.
Gardening in Southwest Florida is a challenge at best and the wide variety of submissions will provide visitors with a visual guide to what can be planted here and survive under tropical south conditions.
Local Master Gardeners will also be available during the show to answer any questions.
