The Fort Myers Symphonic Master-singers will mark its 15-year anniversary with two comprehensive Retrospective Concerts April 3 featuring highlights from past seasons with full orchestra. The group will perform at 2 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral and at 7 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Myers.

The program opens with the Kyrie from Mozart’s “Requiem,” which was the first work ever performed by the Mastersingers. Enjoy excerpts from the Brahms’ “German Requiem,” the opening of Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” selections from Schubert’s Mass in G, a movement from John Rutter’s “Gloria,” patriotic selections including the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and Nancy Hill Cobb’s “Cantate Domino” from Threnody.

Nancy Hill Cobb will be a guest conductor. She is the former artistic director of the Mastersingers.

The Mastersingers extend a special invitation to anyone who has sung with Mastersingers in the past to attend and join in singing the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.” Tickets are available online at our website at mastersingerfm.com or from any Mastersinger.

The Fort Myers Symphonic Master-singers is a select ensemble of singers who enjoy a reputation of musical excellence and are dedicated to the performance of significant choral works. Since forming in 2001, the Mastersingers have grown from a small chorus to an eighty-plus voice ensemble of men and women dedicated to excellence in music.

Each season the ensemble presents five to seven concerts in various venues in southwest Florida. Its soloists are nationally recognized professionals ? either guests of the Mastersingers, or professionals within our own chorus.

The ensemble is under the direction of Artistic Director Jeff Faux.
