‘Who decides?’ series to continue at Faith Presbyterian
On Tuesdays at 6:20 p.m., a free weekly series of discussions tackling the question “Who decides?” will continue at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral. The series addresses the concerns surrounding the complexities of modern medicine and/or directives about what happens to people as they enter the dying process, and sheds light on the issues of ethical practices that people may confront.
The guest speaker for Feb. 9 is Rabbi James Rudin, who has written 17 books, has lectured throughout the world and is a frequent guest on radio and television. A tireless public servant, he has served as the chairman of the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations and participated in 11 meetings with Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. He has also been part of the Camp David Presidential Retreat Interfaith Chapel Committee and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission.
Rabbi Rudin, who was asked by Gov. Cuomo to serve on the first Medical Ethics board for the state of New York and served for 20 years, will discuss medical ethics from his unique position as a rabbi and as someone with life experience dealing with the controversy between life and law.
