Cape Coral Irish American Club announces five scholarship winners
For the past 12 years the Cape Coral Irish American Club has sponsored the annual Cape Coral Irish Festival with the mission to give back to the community.
Throughout the years, the club has supported local businesses. It has also donated a portion of festival proceeds to local charities, such as the Organ Transplant Recipients of SW Florida Inc., the ALS Association Florida Chapter, the Cape Coral Caring Center and many more. And it funds the CCIAC Mahigan Memorial Scholarship.
This year the club awarded scholarships to five dedicated dancers:
– Ethan Coon, Fort Myers, 14, twin brother to Julie Coon. He is an all A student in the 8th grade at Oak Hammock Middle School in Fort Myers and recent serious award-winning dancer with the Flanagan-O’Hare School of Irish Dance.
– Julie Coon, Fort Myers, 14, twin sister to Ethan Coon. She is an all A student in the 8th grade at Oak Hammock Middle School in Fort Myers and a 10-year dancer with the Flanagan-O’Hare School of Irish Dance.
– Brianna Larkin, Cape Coral, twin sister to Moira Larkin. She is a National Honor Society member of the Class of 2014, Tom’s River, N.J., and now a GPA 3.5+ student at FGCU. She is also a Patricia Murphy School of Irish Dance dancer for 15 years and an accomplished varsity field hockey and golf athlete.
– Moira Larkin, Cape Coral, twin sister to Brianna Larkin. She is a National Honor Society member of the Class of 2015, Tom’s River, N.J., and now a FGCU student. She, too, is an award-winning dancer in the Patricia Murphy School of Irish Dance – for 15 years.
– Rebecca Osterhouse, Cape Coral, has been a dancer with the Kellyn Celtic Arts Dance Academy for many years who is also an accomplished pianist and bass guitar player who loves choir, running and basketball. She has achieved Memory Master Award with Classical Conversations of Naples.
