Crosspoint Church to celebrate 10 years of serving Cape Coral

Crosspoint Christian Church will celebrate its 10th anniversary in a special celebration service this Sunday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. at Mariner High School.

Crosspoint began meeting in January 2006 as a church plant of First Christian Church in Fort Myers. Starting with approximately 125 members, its primary vision was to connect Christ and the Cape Coral community. Over the past 10 years, it has served Cape Coral/Southwest Florida in multiple ways. More than 1,000 people have attended each of the two annual free community events (spring & fall) with free food, games, entertainment and more.

The congregation has also continued to serve Mariner High School through the 10-year period by picking up trash after football games, landscaping and providing the staff a “welcome back” breakfast each school year. Over the past 5 years, they have adopted three low-income neighborhoods in North Fort Myers and serve the residents continuously by spending quality time with the children and adults, monthly hot breakfast and bingo for seniors, weekly tutoring for students, and more.

The church also participates in Operation Christmas Child, Habitat for Humanity and other local organizations throughout the year.

“It has been our privilege to be able to connect with our community in so many different ways over these 10 years. And we’re looking forward to deepening those relationships in the next 10 years,” said Jeff Swearingen, lead pastor.

Crosspoint has grown exponentially in 10 years, with more than 650 people now attending one of the four services each Saturday night and Sunday morning. The church met at Mariner High School until December 2011 when the church purchased its current property located near Pine Island Road and Chiquita Boulevard.

Besides serving the community, Crosspoint also focuses on connecting people in small groups.

“With life comes many challenges, but having a small group of people who encourage, pray and walk beside each other makes life better and more fulfilling,” said Shelly Teders, Small Groups director. Crosspoint also values the global community, and supports several mission partners by financial contributions and sending short-term mission teams to places such as Bulgaria, Turkey and Honduras.

Crosspoint’s members are extremely grateful to be holding its 10th anniversary celebration back where its roots began at Mariner High School. The current facility seats less than 250 people, so the Mariner auditorium will allow the entire church family to celebrate together in one room.
