Final preparations made for ClamJam Food & Music Festival
The Pine Island ClamJam Food & Music Festival will take place at Palm Tree Farm, Green Planet Farm, located at 14900 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia, across the street from the Bokeelia Fire Station.
The event dates are Jan. 23-24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days.
Tickets are $6 at the gate or $5 in advance, with children 12 and under free. Parking is free. Two-day passes are available for $10.
Tickets are being sold at the Greater Island Chamber of Commerce, 3640 S.W. Pine Island Road, Matlacha.
The festival will feature some of Pine Island’s best locally farmed clams and fresh seafood right off the boats, along with other great food vendors, Greek food, barbecue chicken, etc., and lots of arts and craft vendors.
In conjunction with the festival, ClamJam will offer farm tours of the Community Garden Project (weather permitting), nature walks through the Pond Apple Swamp (weather permitting), craft demonstrations, and educational and clam farming exhibit.
The event will also offer a 50/50 drawing at the end of each day, and you do not have to be present to win.
Lisa Dence, manager of Olde Fish House Marina in Matlacha, Florida, said “The staff and I are excited to be a part of this year’s ClamJam Music & Food Festival. We are looking forward to being able to showcase Pine Island’s local clams supplied to us by Cutthroat Clams. Our menu will include our specialty New England Clam Chowder, Manhattan Clam Chowder and steamed clams, along with a few new items that we are excited to showcase at this year’s festival.
“The Olde Fish House will also set up a fresh local seafood market at ClamJam so we can highlight some of Pine Island has to offer,” she continued. “Fresh clams supplied to us by Cutthroat Clams in St. James City will be offered to guests to purchase and take home with them, purchase as small an order as a dozen or by the pound. We will put the clam and other seafood offered at the event on ice to keep it cold until you get home.”
A number of island businesses and local vendors will have items available during the festival.
The band lineup for the event includes GrandPa’s Cough Medicine, a unique bluegrass trio; Come Back Alice, a southern gypsy funk band; Snake Blood Remedy, a traditional country music band; Good Bad Kids, a folk, rock, rockabilly and bluegrass influenced-based band performing a mixture of old and new sounds; the Hip-Nauticals, a popular local band; Stringfellow, former members of The Whole-tones; and Big Sky with Kenny & Rick of Stringtown.
