* Bluegrass Jamboree at Cape Coral Historical Museum
The Cape Coral Historical Museum launches a first for Cape Coral on Jan. 30, with an open-air Bluegrass Jamboree and barbecue on the grounds of the museum at 544 Cultural Park Boulevard. The Jamboree a family-friendly afternoon of fun and food is a fundraiser for the Museum, which for more than 30 years has worked to preserve the history of Cape Coral.
The Bluegrass Jamboree presents three well-known local bands that have performed throughout Florida: Cypress Hollow, Banyan Bluegrass and Bugtussle Ramblers. The program emcee is Dick Spottswood, host of the “The Dick Spottswood Show.”
Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the gate; VIP tickets $30 (includes food & drink) Purchase tickets online at www.capecoralmuseum.org; and at the museum.
The museum is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

* Concert Series
Southwest Florida audiences are invited to enjoy two professional performances in mid-January as part of Shell Point Retirement Community’s 2015-2016 Concert Series. Both concerts will highlight classical masterpieces by famed composers.
Shell Point is proud to partner with the Southwest Florida Symphony to offer “Discover Beethoven’s Eroica,” a multimedia orchestral presentation on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in The Village Church. Conducted by Maestro Leif Bjaland, this concert will chronicle Ludwig van Beethoven’s creative journey as he composed his first great symphonic masterpiece, Symphony No. 3, Eroica.
Saxophonist Ashu brings his engaging stage presence to the chamber-style setting of Shell Point’s Grand Cypress Room in The Woodlands on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. Ashu has earned a reputation for his emotional mastery of technical saxophone performances, and has played internationally for many years.

* Lee County Community Band
The Lee County Community Band’s next concert is Sunday, Jan. 10, at 3 p.m. at Cape Coral High School, 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd. The concert is free (donations accepted), and open to the public.

* The Screaming Orphans at Alliance
The Rotary Club of Fort Myers is bringing The Screaming Orphans back to Fort Myers on Saturday, Jan. 30, for an outdoor concert at the Alliance for the Arts.
Comprised of four sisters from Ireland, The Screaming Orphans are known for their high-energy music that blends pop rock with traditional Irish music. The concert benefits the Rotary Trust Fund.
Gates for the outdoor concert open at 6 p.m. Kilt the Messenger performs at 6:30 p.m. There will be a special performance by Abby Fletcher before the Screaming Orphans take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Early-sale tickets are $25 and tickets are $35 after Jan. 1. A tent, table for eight including wine and family-style barbecue is available for $1,500. Kids under 12 are free with an adult. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. No coolers please.

* Poetry and art
Celebrate poetry and art during Broadsides: Poetry off the Shelf at the Alliance for the Arts on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m.
Broadsides features the words of 15 poets merged with images created by 15 visual artists into printed posters. You can see the finished Broadsides and hear the poets read their works during a reception in the Foulds Theatre at the Alliance. There is a $10 suggested donation. Limited edition prints of the 2016 broadsides will be exhibited and available for purchase.
