Exhibit: Florida Before Statehood Exhibit

Coloring for Adults

The repetitive motion involved in coloring has a calming effect and adults have found this childhood activity a refreshing way to release their creativity, relieve stress and meet other participants. Materials provided.
Book Discussion: “A Land Remembered”
by Patrick D. Smith
2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20
In this best-selling novel, Patrick Smith tells the story of three generations of the MacIveys, a Florida family who battle the hardships of the frontier to rise from a dirt-poor Cracker life to the wealth and standing of real estate tycoons. Registration is required.
Benjamin Franklin: Man of Science
4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26
Meet Benjamin Franklin and learn about his greatest scientific achievements and many of his other accomplishments. The program concludes with the re-enactment of a scientific experiment Ben actually performed.
Storytime
Toddler Tales
10:15 a.m., Mondays, Jan. 11, 25
This interactive and active time for toddlers and their favorite caregiver is designed to advance pre-reading and social skills. They’ll experience storytelling, wordplay, felt board stories, fingerplays, puppets, singing, music-making, socializing, dancing and, of course, books.
Baby Rhyme Time
10:30 a.m., Wednesdays, Jan. 13, 20, 27
During this special storytime, you and your baby will learn new nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books and dance.
Preschool Storytime
11 a.m., Thursdays, Jan. 14, 21, 28
Children attend this program independently while the caregiver waits nearby. Your preschooler will continue to build relationships with other kids, books, and the library in a storytime designed specifically for them. The stories and activities are more complex, but just as fun.
Family Storytime
10 a.m., Saturdays, Jan. 16, 23, 30
The whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

Ants in Your Pants Dance Party
11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7
Shake your sillies out at the library! Get ready to twist and shout at this special dance party for preschoolers. We’ll boogie down to pop hits and favorite preschool tunes. For ages 2 to 5. Registration is required.
Kids Read Down Fines

5-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Jan. 12, 26
Children and teens earn a $2 coupon or credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under and applies only to overdue charges.

Children in grades K-5 and their families are invited to a special story and craft program presented by library staff. Sponsored by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library.

Enjoy an afternoon with fellow Yu-Gi-Oh enthusiasts and pick up new strategies and techniques.
