Come celebrate the true meaning of Christmas at the Cape Baptist Church Saturday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. The adult and children’s choirs will be presenting the birth of Jesus in song. This is a free event for the whole family to enjoy!

The group meets every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Each GriefShare session includes a video seminar and group discussion. GriefShare is a nondenominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. Each session is “self-contained” so you do not have to attend in sequence.

DivorceCare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. Christ Lutheran

The presence of the Lord “in your midst” in the wonder of the holy supper is cause for singing. The nearness of the Lord in prayer, in every circumstance, is cause for rejoicing. The coming of one “more powerful” than John, even with his winnowing fork in his hand, is good news – and cause for exultation – for us who are being saved. Great joy is the tone for the third Sunday of Advent.

This third weekend in Advent the Eucharist is celebrated Saturday evening at 5:30. The middle and high school youth with meet Saturday evening. They will attend the evening liturgy together, then stay for a meeting, dinner, and a gift exchange.

Sunday the Eucharist is celebrated at 9 a.m. The music department will present “Once Upon a Night,” a Christmas Cantata at 2 p.m, which will be followed by an ice cream social.

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. the parish prayer team meets and at 12:15 p.m., Brown Bag and a Bible, a lunchtime Bible study, is held. Thursday evening at 7, a Bible study exploring the book of Acts meets. Pastor Bogholtz leads both Bible studies and they can be joined at any time.

The Nativity of Our Lord will be celebrated with four special liturgies. Thursday, Dec.24, there will be a Family Eucharist at 5 p.m., lead by the youth. Traditional Candlelight Eucharists will be held at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday, Dec.25, a Festival Carol Eucharist will be celebrated at 10 a.m. This will be a combined liturgy with Epiphany Episcopal.

Evangelical Presbyterian Church

Evangelical Presbyterian Church is offering a Women of the Word study on Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. Women of the Word is a unique program that brings women in the Lee County area together to support one another in their faith. The study involves women from a variety of faith backgrounds who meet.

While women who are mothers are involved in the study, a program will be provided for their children during the morning session only. The study is done in small groups as relationships are developed. The next study will begin Jan. 12. And we will continue in the book of Genesis.

Methodist Church

Hope United Methodist Church’s mission statement is “Growing with others in Christ, serving others for Christ and introducing others to Christ.”

The church’s Missionary of the Month is Dr. Cornelius Hegeman, an academic dean of Miami International Seminary (MINTS). He supervised distance education for pastors around the world. He travels extensively throughout Latin America, teaching classes to pastors of churches who lack a desirable level of education. Regular seminary-level courses are offered in all areas, and degrees are awarded as the students advance to higher levels of learning. The pastors then teach others courses so that the program is growing exponentially.
