Pine Island Playhouse to present ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ this weekend
The Beacon of H.O.P.E.’s Pine Island Playhouse will present three performances of “Miracle on 34th Street” this weekend. The comedy/drama, adapted by Mountain Community Theatre, is based on the Twentieth Century Fox motion picture “Miracle on 34th Street.”
The originally movie is a 1947 comedy/drama starring Maureen O’Hara, John Payne and Natalie Wood. The story, which takes place between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day in New York City, focuses on a department store Santa Claus who claims to be the real Santa.
The evening dates and times for the island theater production are Friday, Dec. 11, and Saturday, Dec. 12, at 7. The Sunday, Dec. 13, show is at 2 p.m. All performances are at the Pine Island United Methodist Church, 5701 Pine Island Road, across from the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District station.
Previous Pine Island Playhouse performances include “Frankenstein,” “Miracle Worker,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Little Women,” “Alice in Wonderland” and others.
The playhouse was formed by Nichole Pichon more than two years ago. She said the company’s budget is small but the energy, commitment and passion of the cast and crew always bring these performances to life.
The shows are free to the public, however, donations are always welcome.
