Cape church helps feed over 1,100 locals
On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Cape Coral Assembly of God, otherwise known as Cape Assembly, and Jeff Henry Food Pantry partnered to feed local needy families for Thanksgiving calling it the “One Big Feed.” Mike Carter, lead pastor of Cape Assembly, said they have been holding this event for a number of years but this was by far the largest One Big Feed they have had, with 221 turkeys given out, along with many chickens. Other items given were fresh vegetables, canned soup, pasta, rice, beans, cookies and cakes, juice and water to give each family a complete thanksgiving meal.
With over 94 volunteers, all wearing “Love thy neighbor” T-shirts, they were able to help get enough food for the number of people in their families and carry it to their vehicle. The One Big Feed event ran from 9 a.m. to noon, with every last bit of food available handed out – allowing Cape Assembly and Jeff Henry Food Pantry to feed 1,100 people that otherwise would not of had a thanksgiving.
One Big Feed was held at Cape Assembly at 717 Skyline Blvd., Cape Coral. For more information please contact Cape Assembly Office at 239-574-5690 or on the web at capeassembly.com.
