Branch of Life to honor former POW Jessica Lynch
The Branch of Life Christian Fellowship will welcome former POW Jessica Lynch to a special non-denominational prayer service Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Elks Lodge in Cape Coral at 4631 S.E. 10th Place, at 10 a.m.
Lynch served in the 2003 invasion of Iraq by U.S. and allied forces. On March 23, Private First Class Lynch was serving as a unit supply specialist with the 507th Maintenance Company when her convoy was ambushed by Iraqi forces during the battle of Nasiriyah. Lynch was seriously injured and captured. Her subsequent recovery by U.S. Special Operation Forces on April 1, 2003, received considerable media coverage and was the first successful rescue of an American prisoner of war since Vietnam and the first-ever rescue of a woman.
Lynch is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War Medal.
Join the congregation as it honors her with Contemporary Praise and Worship and God’s word shared by Pastor Anthony Cubello. Lynch will also speak at the service.
