Benjamin Allen achieves Eagle Scout rank

Benjamin G. Allen, son of Glenn and Mardi Allen, has achieved Boy Scouting’s highest rank, that of Eagle Scout.

Allen, 18, is a member of Cape Coral, Boy Scout Troop 4, sponsored by the Masonic Lodge under the leadership of Scoutmaster Tom Tomlins and Matt Hannam.

Allen began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub with Pack 34 then to Pack 82, receiving the highest award at the cub scout level the Arrow of Light.

As a member of Troop 4, he has held numerous leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Champlain Aide, Historian and Scribe. He earned 23 merit badges; he attended the BSA 100th Anniversary Jamboree, and the Sol Leiman Merit Badge College. Allen was awarded with the Child of God, Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei religious awards from the Diocese of Venice. He completed the National Youth Leadership Training.

Allen attended numerous camp outings, summer camps, and participated in service projects over his ten years of scouting.

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Allen planned, coordinated and supervised the installation of two park benches at the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve in Cape Coral. The benches were designed, built and installed with sustainable materials for maximum use and duration for the community. They are situated so that visitor’s may sit and enjoy the spectacular view of the river and wildlife with the back drop of the city of Fort Myers skyline. Special thanks goes to Shoreline Lumber, Fort Myers for their very generous support.

Allen is a senior at Bishop Verot Catholic High School. He is a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. He is planning on studying aerospace engineering and business management.

He received his Eagle badge during a court of honor ceremony Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge of Cape Coral.
