Next month’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
Adult Programs
English Caf
10:30 a.m., Thursdays, Dec. 3, 10, 17
Free, informal conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.
The Soul of a Soldier: Songs & Stories
2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5
With his gentle performance of songs and powerful storytelling, Mike Cheesman gives us a glimpse of the patriotism, sacrifice and heroism of soldiers on both sides of the Great War.
Storytime
Baby Rhyme Time
10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2
9:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5
During this special storytime, you and your baby will learn new nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books and dance.
Family Storytime
11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 3
Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

Kids Read Down Fines
5-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Dec. 1, 15, 29
10 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, Dec. 12, 26
Children and teens earn a $2 coupon or credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under and applies only to overdue charges.
Life-Size Candyland
6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8
Candyland comes to life and you are the game piece. Explore colors and counting as you find your way to King Kandy’s castle. Pre-registration is not required but entry into the game will not be accepted after 6 p.m. First-come, first-served. Sponsored by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library.
Music Together
10:30 a.m., Thursdays, Dec. 10, 17
Musical exploration for young children presented by Family Music Time. For ages 5 and under. Sponsored by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library. Registration is required.
An Afternoon at the Movies
2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21
Bring your blankets and pillows and join the fun for a special holiday film about a boy who longs to believe in Santa Claus and the train trip he takes to reach the North Pole.

What’s the perfect kickback Tuesday, pre-holiday afternoon? Movie watching with your friends. Teens only are welcome to bring a pillow, share some snacks and watch a great flick. Movie shown in the Teen Zone.
