7th Annual Diocese of Venice ‘Youth Rally’ Saturday
The 7th Annual Diocese of Venice in Florida “Youth Rally” will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, 75 Taylor St., Punta Gorda.
The Most Rev. Frank J. Dewane, bishop of the Diocese of Venice in Florida, will be joined by 1,700 young people for a day of spiritual enrichment and Diocesan solidarity.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ announcement of the upcoming Year of Mercy, the theme for this year’s Youth Rally is “Be a Light of Mercy for Christ.” Young people from 7th through 12th grade will listen to national speakers, hear Christian rock music and have an opportunity for prayer, confession and an Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
The day culminates with the teens engaging in a 6:30 p.m. illuminated half mile public Eucharistic Procession through the streets of Punta Gorda to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Mass with the Bishop.
Presenters include: Fr. Leo Patalinghug, a priest, break dancer, martial artist and TV host, who reaches young people through his “Grace Before Meals” ministry; Doug Barry, the host of EWTN’s “Life on the Rock;” and inspirational speaker Megan Mastroianni, who will address how to overcome many of the pressures facing young people today.
